FERRITE TESTING

Ferrite testing is a non-destructive testing technique which provides a fast, inexpensive and accurate way to measure delta ferrite content in austenitic and duplex stainless steel materials. Ferrite testing can establish the ideal ferrite content balance between ductility, toughness, corrosion resistance, and crack prevention.

Ferrite testing is necessary to avoid material failure in duplex and austenitic stainless steels. If the ferrite content is too low, the stainless steel may be susceptible to solidification cracking (hot cracking) upon welding.

The Ferrite scope is a tool used for ferrite testing and it uses the principle of magnetic induction for ferrite measurement and measures all magnetic components in the otherwise non-magnetic structure.
